Hi John
There are a range of trails under 30mins drive from Huntly, near Fochabers - the moray monster trails:

and acrobat PDF map here to print out (also maps at some carparks)
[

there are greens, blues, reds and short black
so something for everyone, 2 days of biking at least - I enjoy them all!
Golspie and Learnie fun - I biked there over Christmas, preferred Golspie as bigger, longer descents yet still technical.
we messed around at Abriachan today (10miles SW of Inverness by loch ness):

as recommeneded by Hi11y - its mainly more family orientated trails, but we enjoyed the jumps on jump park, the blue was fun and short technical red.
see-saws by carpark also great fun!
map here:

and Finally! - Pitfichie (near Inveruire/Alford - so close to Huntly),
has man-made trails, but not a complete circuit yet,

for range of other local trails - mainly "natural" and in hills see here:

so hopefully this lot will keep you busy!!
another more distant set of trails is Laggan Wolftrax, 1hr45 - 2hrs from Huntly
Golspie was 1hr15min from Ardersier, so around 2-1/2hrs from Huntly
so in summary - the local Fochabers trails good for you, and also have family trails,
same with Abrichan
for Technical trails, Golspie most fun for me, then Laggan,, then Learnie
and also Pitfichie, but pitfchie has only a few km so far of good stuff
have fun!
back home now 15mins from Huntly, but over to Grantown for Hogmanay
