Yad Moss has had 4 days. several of those were actually artehr good. raise has had at least 12 days including some great skiing but overall it will probably be remembered as a poor season.

Looks like maybe a wee bit of a dusting coming in on Monday/Tuesday next week.

Fingers crossed for a bit of Spring Holidays sliding. Can't really call it Easter Holidays 'cause there is no Easter in the holidays...

It seems we are stuck in the stubborn mild set up for the rest of January, this season looking gloomy unless High pressure changes it course, Looks like a repeat of last season which was dreadful to say the least.

Well the direction of travel is improving in the GFS runs currently, but as long as we keep these high gepotential heights to the SE of England it will be a very fine line between 2014 style snowfalls and monsoon conditions!

More runs required as they say on the weather forums.

Looks like Glencoe and Nevis got decent amounts of snow today. Webcams show snowline a little below the top of the access at Glencoe. Lots more needed but a big improvement. Let’s hope it continues.

Yes, let's hope so..

In Bristol, the ground has been frozen and the frost has remained all day. A very large pond at work is frozen..
Significantly colder than any of the higher slopes in Scotland - unbelievable

Well, after the worst season I can remember for a long time last year .... this year has been awful again so far! Not skied in Scotland since the tail end of the 2018 season (can only usually go at the weekends). 11 degrees in Inverness today!

The weather is looking better for Saturday onwards ... but we're starting from zero again .... here's hoping we get some snow to stick and we finally get a base that will hang around

Snow incoming, but it is now looking colder early next week, freezing levels well below the lower slopes for 2 or 3 days.

Ironically an issue in the West and to some extent on CairnGorm this year has been when it has snowed significantly, it has been too cold given then strength of the wind. Powedry snow with -5°c isn't base building material in storm force winds!

So a bit of good news is that the wind is not set to be so strong as with the previous cold snap. Less wind and low temperatures will hopefully allow a good number of fan guns to run too.

Now the not so good news, the high geopotential heights over and near the South of England persist and keep rebounding, this upcoming period has gone from sustained cool unsettled, to cold spell, to colder shorter snap with mild air spilling late in the week once again.

As with last year when the lead up to 89/90 was a common analog to the build up to winter, this year 88/89 was too - there are some remarkable similarities, in essence the period of 88 to 92 playing out in reverse.

In 88/89 there was no lift served riding in Scotland until mid Feb when Coire Cas opened loading at the top of the Gunbarrel and offloading at the upper crossover! Another factor in that season and in the various weather analogues for this winter was that it would tend to be a heavily 'backloaded winter' - so there maybe hope yet!

However if the snow comes Sunday through Tuesday in the West, it might be a case of drop everything and grab the window of opportunity on Wednesday!

Where did it all fall then?

Same temps the length of Loch Lomond today with heavy rain showers up to Tarbet where there was then a war between snow/ sleet and heavy rain most the day. Top half of the loch had a lotta snow right down tae the shore, some bits seemed to have more snow lower down than higher up, was kinda weird looking the times it cleared up...
