Glencoe Snow 2014

As it's currently dumping and a burst of heavy snow has obliterated the view from every webcam except the SSC Hut, it seems like a good time to start this thread with the last view captured from the Access Chair camera before the window turned all white!

Looks like enough snow up high to get a few turns in.Hope to take a stroll (struggle) up on Saturday. A week later this season on last year.

looks like much more snow at Glencoe than Cairngorm, Are they still maintaining the access chair so cannot open for at least a couple of weeks?

There will be plenty turns for those prepared to earn them.

Still no power at Glencoe, so the mountain cams and weather stations remain offline and don't as yet know if there was any damage. The power line in view took a direct hit and blew up the transformer. Hopefully will see some Hydro people at the post with a new one soon.

Meto Mountain Forecast looks good for the glencoe desired freeze thaw this week. A sharp melt plus a rapid soaking for the base before icing it up to form the beginnings of a base smiling smiley

Amazing day at Glencoe today with shoogly and jungle. Ski anywhere cover and fresh tracks all over. Skied most of the way down to the car park via the bike track too.

Cams are down but if the amount of snow that survived on Ben More and Stuc a croin is anything to go by, the coe should have an excellent base, hopefully it gets chance to freeze before wednesday's rain and gale

Still no power up the hill, so don't yet know whether the networking gear, cams and weather stations will come back online alright or whether anything has been fried. Fingers crossed, I know everyone is itching to see the cams after last weeks snowy storms.

How did they manage to the get tthe transformer to the top of the hill in the end? Did they give you a reason for the delay? I would have thought getting the transformer from stores in Perth/Glasgow would have been easy enough.....If only I still worked there I could have given them a kick up the behind for you ;-)

Glad to see it's all sorted!
