Good Winters This Last Few Years
Date Posted: 11.27hrs on Sun 2 Feb 14
Was just pondering this subject.

It is mainly to do with Cairngorm (well wouldn't it be)

Previous "Management" on Cairngorm this past few years - pre Colin - were always on about the decline of snow in the Winters and how it was going to affect the overall operating pattern of the Mountain.
It was always pointed out to us by them at meetings that lift-served skiing in the future would primarily be in the Top Bowl area.

Briefly, where has this left Cairngorm skiing ?
It has left it with three key lifts removed, others near and past the end of their working life, and a catering system that struggles to cope on busy days, partially because the Shieling is used as a Workshop instead of a food stop. Mark my words, it will be the next bit of important Mountain infrastructure that will be gashed !! It was supposed to have had Phase 2 incorporated at the middle of the Train - kinda awkward when the middle isn't at the middle !

The Mountain struggles to cope with 3000 punters - old "frosties" can remember when 10 - 15 thousand were on the hill !

So where are all these Prophets of gloom now ? Well one of them is involved with the Dualling of the A9 !! God help us !

It seems that the old regime had the mentality of if it costs more to keep it than it makes money, get rid of it. Certainly the case of the White Lady & Fiaciall tows and the Chairs.

Poor decisions by clueless numpties.

Where are they now.

I seem to recall another White Elephant in Edinburgh being the subject of a Public Enquiry.

Given the odd decisions that have been made at Cairngorm and the amount of cash thats involved, why not have another one?

That would get all the suits to slither into the sunlight.
