How Many Days?
Date Posted: 18.05hrs on Wed 14 May 14
I was reading the threads talking about the number of days lost this season and how bad it has been. I decided to look back at my photo records of 2013/14.

The weather did appear to be worse at the weekend and the blue bird days were not consistent, more sporadic one offs, very few consecutive days. If you were a weekend skier you probably think it was a bad season, if mid week skier you probably had a good season. If I look closely at the blue bird pictures you can see the spindrift, so very windy.

I have over 90 days skiing this season and I think it was great and it is not over yet.

How many did you have?

Graeme

lost count but i skied a day most weekends from nov-may. I didn't get 1 day on my xc skis though which is very unusual. Must have had about 4 days when the vis and wind were good.

Sadly I only had one day skiing in Scotland this season. A day at Glencoe in poor visibility at end of April.
Will be making every effort to improve on that in the 2014/15 ski season.

Did get 5 days in Chamonix and 5 weeks in Canada/USA to keep me happy though.

14 days (at weekends) all at Cairngorm this season. Being in school means I'm limited to weekends, which as you said had worse weather.

Had a really good season this year, always on excellent snow. Had about 3 days at yad moss, 6 days at raise, 6 days at Corvara, 3 days at Chamonix and best of all 2 days at Glenshee.

Hitting a significant birthday next year so treating myself to an all area pass so I'm not so restricted to the shenanigans which is Cairngorm at the moment...smiling smiley

I skied my most days ever this season. 13 days in Scotland (all at Glencoe) and 12 abroad [don't grudge me these :-) as up until 3 years ago I didn't ski much abroad at all]

With family and work commitments it's difficult to get more - my wife doesn't ski however this past season I got my son into the Glencoe Ski Club training program (which is very good btw - he improved impressively) and this gave me the excuse to get up most weekends Funny how my wife doesn't mind my son going but objects to me going on my own :-(

Lost 3 or 4 weekends due to the wind. Just managed to top last season's mileage by about 10 miles (24 days 2012/2013) according to my phone app.

So while it was a tough season, it's probably my best ever. Definitely got value for money out of our season tickets, and the added bonus was no queuing in the morning - worth a few extra £ for that! (unusually for the Coe this season the tickets queues on quite a few weekends were very long, undoubtedly because of the 'concentrated' nature of the season with some weekends off, some with upper lifts buried)

Chickened out of the Flypaper again, it was really only open on one or two the days towards the end of the seaon when I was up - maybe I'll get to it sometime

I did somewhere between 25-30 trips up to Glenshee this year, quite a good total for me as work was quiet. It was about 50:50 for conditions however ALL of my days were midweek, some only 2-3 hours.

My impression was that it was a good season. There was some genuinely peachy snow at times and the piste work was excellent at Glenshee this year.

Here's hoping that 14-15 gives even better snow!!!

Cheers - Bob... just responding to the straw-poll. ATB-

This was my first season Snowboarding, and yes I have been warned that not every year is this good!

My tally ended up as...
6 @ Glencoe (plus hopefully June 21st)
3 @ Nevis Range
3 @ Mammoth Mountain, California
2 @ Cairngorm
1 @ Glenshee

So 15 days overall, and 12 in Scotland. Of those the best day was that 1,700 skier/boarder Sunday @ Nevis Range which saw the whole mountain covered with a huge expanse of fresh powder.

Had 3 days at glenshee, 2 days at nevis and didn't keep track of those at Glencoe, think I had 7 or 8 days there. Good season with loads of pow days.
