Thanks for the great day out on Sunday. I reckon from almost top of mountain to the bottom of the wall T bar must be close to 1280 feet descent, decent!!

Did any of you guys or anyone else that was ski-ing on Sunday notice the large areas of red dye through the snow wasnt dust- on the Spring Run and bottom of the main run?

I noticed this on Carn Mor Dearg when I was at Nevis Range watching the mountain biking yesterday. A fairly large area of one of the east facing snowfields had a very definite red tinge to it.

Fairly sure this is the explanation, 'Watermelon Snow' [en.wikipedia.org]

Sounds like it. Sometimes it's a tinge but other times it does look like dye has leaked [forum.winterhighland.info]

That is not red dye. It is the blood leaching through from those poor victims swallowed up the crevasses. ;-)

Ok this has been bugging me. Can anyone tell me where exactly the Haggis Trap is at Glencoe? Is it visible from any of the webcams. I don't ski Glencoe often, and when I have over the last two seasons I belive it has been buried.
Thanks.

Ahh nice one, thanks. I suspected it might be there but I've received completely different answers from a number of people. I guess if anyone should know, it's igloo4you

Looking down the Main Basin on Saturday afternoon... Fast crunchy granular spring snow was well worth the hike, bit less hiking required on Sunday as the Cliffhanger Chair will be running for a bit in the morning for the Mid-Summer ski & board, from around 10am. Plan is to meet in the Cafe around 9am, grab some breakfast then head up the Access Chair. Approx 7min walk across the Plateau path to reach the Cliffhanger Chair.
