Fantastic day at Nevis amazing turns off Winger and tremendous to ride Braveheart chair felt really patriotic for some reason!
Only bummer was that somebody wandered of with my ice axe (a bright yellow Stubai with red wrist strap which ive owned for decades ) whilst I was sitting down having lunch at bottom of the chairlift !! So if any of the 50 people who were riding the backs know of its whereabouts it would be appreciated if it could be returned to the ticket office at Nevis no questions asked Cheers

Was up at Aonach Mor yesterday for the first time this season and the snow on the front of the hill was awful. It had obviously thawed and refrozen and was bulletproof even after the afternoon's sunshine. The Goose was a nightmare, I saw a few folk taking off their skis and walking across to cascade, which wasn't much better to be honest.
However, a great cheer went up when the 'Braveheart Open' sign was pushed into the snow at the Summit tow. Various drop-ins were available and the snow was lovely, probably the easiest entrance I've ever seen there.
Ventured over to Aonach Beag in the afternoon, plenty of ski tourers about and finished up with a run down Summit Gully which had been boilerplated in the shade, just in time to make the last lift out on Braveheart.

A great day out, Aonach Mor is just a wonderful place to ski. smiling smiley

And so it proved again, good weather lots of snow and the mythical beast running again for a while until it went off pm, Great Glen Chair too grinning smiley

Rob Roy and Alt Sneachda don't normally get a mention but both were very good.

Emerging from the mist into glorious sunshine is hard to beat!

The Braveheart was fixed later on, around 1530 or so... Just as well, as we'd lapped Summit again in the later afternoon and arrived to find it shut! Didn't fancy hiking out in that heat.

Cheers Hustler and seemed to be running fine today though not such a nice day as yesterday and quite heavy in places over the back.

More snow forecast for the weekend though smiling smiley

Skied 3 out of the last 4 days, been brilliant, Braveheart running well about 40% faster with its new motor running well now gives more time skiing, BIG PLUS !

Skied all 3 of the back corries from Chancer, Easy gully, Spikes, Summit Gully a number of times each on nice soft snow although a bit sticky towards the bottom. Had a few good runs below Braveheart between lapping the backs, Sat AM was on particularly nice snow and up for fast descents in fairly good vis while the tops were misty, ya gotta make the most !

Few pics in the public reports.

Very few folk around considering conditions all lifts straight on , where was everybody ? great snow and Easter hols ?

Agree, it has been brilliant and with the bluebird back oot the cage again it's going to be epic over the next few days.

Get out while you can, it'll be barbecue & bikinis soon enough, the backs are serving up great sport and pond skimming should be an added option soon smiling smiley Ye cannae whack it!

off to cervinia for a week but i'm hoping they'll be some left when I get back. Was up on sat but the mist didn't clear- still a good laugh though.
Always like to finish the season on scottish snow!

Well the backs really are in great nick (I was touring over the back of Aonach Beag so didn't actually ski Aonach Mor) but I thought this shot worth sharing taken from the far side showing Marians, Summit Gully, Spikes and Coire an Lochain, plus Coire Dubh far right where there are multiple entrances and mainly straightforward.

Rob Roy on the way back was also looking good with happy punters enjoying the sun served by the Rob Roy Chair and this is a great place for kids and learners etc.

All in all a top week at Nevis Range and long may it continue! grinning smiley

We had great fun yesterday on the hill with the kids. Started in the morning over on the Rob Roy T-Bar before doing lots of laps from the Quad chair.

A few days old now, but here's confirmation of the quality of the snow in the backs on Sunday afternoon, after the wind eased about midday and the summit tow opened. Even better, uplift was half-price on Sunday: result!!!

Cheers, Geoff

The end is in sight for Nevis sad smiley

Website says this could be the last weekend - & ticket prices are reduced. We'll be there.

If we take touring kit, OS map etc, can anyone recommend any non-extreme routes/bowls etc? Are these all accessed from the summit?

And is it currently a walk out from the back corries?

Cheers.

Good day at nevis today once the cloud cleared. Skiing from the summit to the bottom of the quad chair although getting narrow below the bottom of the goose. Goose is full width to tower four and in very good condition.

Backs are stuffed with snow and spent the afternoon lapping chancers, highish traverse to Nid ridge and then down to the great glen chair for access back to the top station. Laps took a bit under an hour each time with the walk along to the quad chair. Backtrack and yellow belly look pretty good on the non extreme side. Bottom of coire an lochain and by the brave heart chair is a bit broken so if skiing all the way down the the snow line then a bit of an awkward skin out out or up to the traverse but nothing too serious and definitely worth it if the weather's good.

Forecast looks good for upcoming weekend and what looks to be the last weekend for the lifts.Anybody been out near the ski area since Freeheel's excellent report above/ in backcountry? Currently struggling to shift a stinking cold so a bit of lift-assisted touring with spring conditions, sunny forecast, possibly a few laps of the chair in the backs makes Nevis look pretty tempting option...

Absolutely brilliant day full cover in backs with all gullies and slopes giving fantastic skiing .....a complete contrast to the front of the hill.

Snow on this side is in the sun from the start and was soft from the off.

Braveheart fired up and ran faultlessly till the end of play.

Sunday 19th is almost definitely the last day of lift assisted skiing so with this weather and conditions make the most and its only £25.

Few pics from today below.
