Great day today. Could do with more snow but Coire Fionn full width all the way and access is fine. Snow soft but fast. Could do with more though especially on Glas Maol where the uptrack is almost complete but neither of the runs are. It would be nice to get some snow making on Claybokie too.

Re webcam.
I think they got a new webcam installed that hasn't been setup to take zooms yet. The new one seems much higher definition.

PS. If you handed a radio in today then thanks!

A replacement camera would explain it, however the current picture is only 1536x300 pixels. Looking some of my saved pictures from the old camera the resolution used to be 2686x500. So the definition has actually dropped. I'm guessing the improvement in the picture quality has more to do with cleaning the housing.

Agreed the webcam could look better, but there is some good snow to be had on the right aspects:

weekend wind strikes again....sunday looks similar to today so should be fine, but unless the low changes track a bit the 40mph winds with gust 100mph on summits may even be too strong for the GS team to keep things open safely on Saturday

early morning update before setting out tomorrow :-(

I wouldnt be surprised if the snow gates are closed in the morning, Glenshee is getting a good pasting right now.

Webcam always looks rubbish.

Coire Fionn is as good as ever and has been providing great entertainment(or was on Tuesday). As was Butchars Coire and Slalom, Tiger not too bad either. Tom Dearg and Cluny also perfect. One day there will be a webcam on top of Meal Odhar... One day.

I lug my heavy Nikon DSLR everywhere I go! But most of the time it's the Samsung Galaxy that captures the moments...

Yeah, just got turned back at bridge of cally! Police didn't sound overly optimistic but then I guess they never do.

New record for least successful snowboarding day though!!

Webcam doesn't always show the snow conditions at their best. Video from last Monday "On piste" courtesy of the "young lad".

Well I never got the point of sharing a picture of a bunch of parked cars on a conditions thread and describimg it as "capturing the moment". You should get up there on a busy day, there's sometimes thousands of cars. You'd love it. Each to their own I guess, I liked the video and the point it makes.

Anyhow it must be some drift of windslab if the roads still shut! I will attempt to get up tomorrow. Hopefully some decent snow
low down if the road remains shut for tomorrow.

Got up to the Spittal and met the snow cutter on it's way back - that was about 10ish....driver said it wouldn't be opening. Spend the day hiking up for a few turns, sledging, building a snow hole and chilling in the sun. ...quite a good day really! ..family had a blast.
