Raise 14/15
Date Posted: 12.57hrs on Mon 19 Jan 15
A bit late to be starting this topic but I can't find an earlier one for this season.

Last week filled in the snow on Raise after to replace the green that we have seen on the webcam since before Christmas. We now have good cover on the hill and a good weekend skiing was enjoyed by many members (see public report for Saturday).

Note that there is much ice about on the approaches from Greenside Mine and from Stannah (Thirlmere side) so crampons are recommended (there was a fatality off Swirral Edge on Saturday).

The tow may run on Wednesday, check the Facebook page for updates.

The LDSC tow ran again yesterday with about 35 members enjoying remarkably good conditions.
Despite the loss of snow depth, Savage's and President's were still complete. Some new snow on a not-so-hard base got better as the day progressed, ending with some fine spring snow runs in the last hour.

Two reports on facebook give a good view of the extent of the snow:

Tow did not run Sunday due to the forcast high winds.

Hopefully the coming week will deliver more snow, but the freezing level will bounce up and down so we will have to see. There will be some wild windy days so check the snow line and facebook/twitter for update on whether the tow will run.

Great day at Raise today. the run has broken above P4 but superb skiing below. The pictures dont do justice. Tomorrow may be the last day of the English season however.
