Plenty of progress made. Still waiting on one more heli lift. Trouble is its a heavy one and they need a whole day of perfect weather for it.

Interestingly I also heard that the lift was a month late coming from France.

Great to see some pics showing things appearing. Next we need to see a cable and then some chairs, & more snow of course.

I was there last Thursday as the old tiger rope was being attached to the pulleys. Looking at the webcam today it looks like the new rope has been pulled in using the old one and they are now splicing it together. Last week they reckoned that there were approx. 3 more weeks of work left. So possibly ready for testing in a fortnight. I can foresee problems though, with beginners getting to the top and starting down the tiger by mistake and not being able to get down or having accidents!

new lifts are always magnets for the naive

even if beginners dont go straight down the black and head across the top of thunder bowl towards cairnwell T-bar, they will still struggle and need to walk or head down thunder bowl itself, which for beginners and light intermediates is a challenge at the top

a bit of natural selection will occur i am sure

At least the Baddoch chair will be quieter for the rest of us

Surely most beginners would head straight down the ridge past the Cairnwell T-bar to the Bunny Run or whatever it's called, snow conditions allowing

Can't see this being a huge issue

agree most will attempt this but not manage it...the upward section of this traverse to where the T-Bar unloads is too steep and too long for your momentum to take you up and over...walking will be only option...or thunder bowl

this is a red/black terrain serving lift (maybe argue some blue terrain), beginners should be warned away

my experience is that they will ignore this and come a cropper

Need to remodel the traverse so it's downhill all the way

Some kind of traverse down to the gentler slopes around claybokie would be ideal. Unless they could rig up a rope tow to the top of the t-bar?

Any suggestion that the Scottish mountains are not naturally perfect for skiing and snowboarding is complete heresy on this site. All proponents of sympathetic terrain profiling to enhance the Scottish ski centres are therefore to be burnt at the stake.

Flattening out the top would be a fairly major operation, assuming the profile of the mountain on Google Earth is correct, the dip between the Chair and T-Bar is about 10m lower than the top of the T-Bar and to simply make it flat would require an embankment about 300m long across this section. Not impossible, but probably unlikely given the visual impact and likely environmental objections.

A 1 PB wide track cut into the mountainside enabling people to cross over to the Bunny run below the top of the T-Bar might be do-able though. However, a portable rope tow is probably the least controversial option, minimal environmental impact, probably no planning permission needed and cheap. It would be nice to see a second rope tow linking the Beag to the Caenlochan.

Forget a rope tow, a chairlift, probably triple or quad given potential dual use for novice terrain within the middle valley and as a distributor lift that eases travel around the snowsports area:

That would be even better, with mid line loading at the Cluny.
