Closing days at the three open ski centres?
Date Posted: 19.28hrs on Mon 13 Apr 15
Nevis Range have talked of final days.

Anyone know when Nevis Range, Glen Coe and Cairn Gorm will close?

Colin (ops1 at CML) was suggested a few more weeks yet. He normally tries to push for the May bank holiday depending on snow cover. The snow is not as deep this year as the last couple though.

If only there had been bit less back slapping and a bit more snowmaking.

DonaldM,
As long as skiers and boarders keep coming we expect to remain open 7 days a week until the 4th May at Glencoe.

Weren't many opportunities in the West to make snow this year, either too mild or too windy. Sure everyone did the best they could.

Igloo, (Andy) Tupp means Cairngorm not you lot or Nevis ! Haven't collated all the figures yet but Cairngorm have probably missed in excess of 65 % Snowmaking/Hours/Opportunity !

At that rate they would be as well putting the blowers back and spend the money used to run them ....OT, Power,Ancillaries etc on Hunter Wellies and Tartan Capes for The Workshop.....or whatever it's called !

My fire is only directed to the self congratulating, blue rinse worshipping train operators.

When I started boarding last year I was told not to expect such a good season every year. Well here we are looking at some resorts making it to Mayday again.

Do I take it that this season, while not quite as good as last year, is still way better than average?

Well, as far as Glenshee goes it's been pretty grim, latest opening and earliest closing since i started boarding 10 years ago, and somewhat hit and miss even at it's best. I suspect the glencoe and nevis regulars might see it differently though?

Although 11/12 - I think thats the year anyway - got off to a good start it was pretty grim too. This photo was taken on the 16th Jan. All in all the guts of the season was a month and a half long!

Its season like these that non-surface access to Coire Fionn will really make pay dividends. The Baddoch chairlift has already been a lifeline on several occasions. A new MO chair will have the same effect Im sure.
