We would have been interested if it hadn't been for the fact that the two tows run in the opposite direction, getting on and off backwards could have been a challenge.....

Ah, that would be a bit of a problem. I hadn't actually noticed this before, but thinking about it you're right. I'm assuming that the chairs are actually a mirror image of each other. So to allow for this you would need cut the chair off the supporting pole and the weld it on the other way around in addition to reversing the grips. Which would get expensive.

Perhaps Mad River Glen bought them, they seem to be very attached to their single chair.

jabuzzard, even if you reversed the clamps chairs still wouldn't be in the correct position, they would run too close to the towers.

I was forgetting it was a single seater chair so you are right. Still the Cliffy chairs all need removing, shot basting and some hot dip galvanization treatment. Good for another 50 years :-)

50 years?

A galvanisers will have acid baths for de rusting n cleaning, not much need tae shot blast them.. A semi decent compressor on the hill would get them blasted and sprayed in decent epoxy, saving a few quid. Finish em off in funky colours, green n white?

Given that all acids will eat the metal away as well, I was under the impression that shot blasting was the preferred method of rust removal. Either way galvanization would be preferable to a paint job, and far less offensive on the hill.

Only antiques could be offended by the green n white winking smiley

The acids are neutralized after dipping, shot blasting removes steel too, soda blasting does less damage..

Blasting is good for exterior cleaning, to get at internals an acid dip would be best..

Epoxy aint normal paint either
