Excellent day at the Coe yesterday. Took snowblades which I should've known wouldn't take kindly to powder snow. Nevertheless, loads of good skiing to be had including the Main Basin and Happy Valley which opening mid-afternoon. Also the first time I've skied the Haggis Trap when it hasn't been filled in with snow!

Photos in the public reports.

Sort of a wicked day yesterday Beano not with us for a start to find the tasty lines was a downer, don't get me wrong 'twas sweet to see all our mateys from down the road, spent a lot of the time catching up an all that.
Skiing was challenging, visibility was typically poor, at best so not much exploring done . not much terrain available either unless your prepared to risk seriously knackering your kit on the baseless unconsolidated snow, plenty of UNMARKED hazards all over mid mountain, particularly on Mugs alley(aptly named ),even the plateau run was rough in places I have never seen it like this on opening weekend before.
Still the same broken bridges jutting out of the snow though, with added redundant fencing lying across mugs alley to spice things up a bit for the inexperienced.
We did find a couple of sweet lines through Rannoch glades, and down the gully that's usually the wall up-track, main basin was ok but not really ok ,every where else was hard graft and getting chewed up rapidly.
Had to knock it on the head early as I need my legs for the day job.
There were people still going up as we left at 2 oclockish .

Cannae wait for a decent dump.
Peace.Davie

There has been 3 to 4 inches of new snow in the carpark already tonight, possibility of more to come looking at the radar.

It's been a case of play while you can recently, so if you are able to - take advantage of Wednesday's weather window.

A nice morning at Glencoe, Access Chair, Platuea Poma and Coire Pollach due on for 9am. Quite a bit of work needed further up, but staff hope to get Wall and Main Basin T-bars on later.

Mild and drizzly at the moment going from the base AWS and radar, more rain overnight so check in the morning.

Doesn't look like a day for an early start as the models have the cold front coming through around opening time, and it could be very squally perhaps 50 gusting 70mph+ for a spell, but should quite suddenly veer towards the West and moderate behind the cold front during the morning. Beyond a more promising looking spell of weather.

Any news on Cliffy?

For a normally quite media savvy crowd at Glencoe they've been very quiet on this topic. I'm worried it's out for the season or, even worse, terminal.

Posted on Facebook about it a couple of times. Major gearbox issue, it's currently being re-built, shouldn't be long now. We don't have a date yet for it coming back but are doing everything we can to ensure it is done as speedily as possible.

Looks like there should already have been an inch or so since close of play and there is a fairly heavy band of precipitation nearing Glencoe (and will reach Nevis soon after).

After that some showers overnight, but real interest kicks off pre dawn with clusters of heavy precipitation becoming established over the West. NMM and Euro4 mesoscale model particularly bullish for tomorrow morning, should be regular fresh tracks - but the wind might be marginal particularly pm.

Things were looking much better on the webcams today. Forecast to keep the temps down for a while too. What a relief. Wed day off negotiated...
