A few up with skis today at Glencoe, but the uphill part was hot work today! Despite the temperature being in the mid 20s°c around the West Highlands today the snow in the Main Basin and the Canyon was great - fast crunchy granular spring snow, a delight to ski and well worth the hike.
Main Basin, Spring Run still good on the upper mountain. The warm Easterly wind though has stripped an exposed section of Happy Valley above the narrows. Wall has a small break in it 3/4 of the way down, but apart from that the Wall, Canyon and Thrombosis remain skiable mid-mountain.
Flypaper area still has plenty snow, but a very dubious full width crack has a appeared and a risk t's a potential precursor of a significant wet snow avalanche or even full depth slide while the weather remains very warm and the warm and strong Easterly wind hits it full on.
^Tourers head through the Haggis Trap on the Main Basin.
