Andy,

with the widely reported falls of snow this week, I have heard from a lot of people who are planning to head up for a final weekend.

Regarding the intermittent mid-mountain tows this season - it has never really detracted from the experience (even at the busiest times) thanks to good queue management and lift etiquette - i.e. being prepared to double up.

Also cutting back early from the Spring Run avoided mid mountain. One morning when the cliffy was off, it was easy enough whilst lapping the Flypaper, E. Ridge etc. to simply walk the 80 metres back up to the Main Basin Tows to avoid the mid mountain queues.

Things may be quiet these past few weeks, even the cuckoo has failed to appear, yet!
Bring on the weekend!

Around 15cm (6 inches) of new snow has fallen at Glencoe during lift operating hours today. Radar shows the frontal system wrapping round and SE winds should bring the heaviest precipitation back to Glencoe this evening for a second go!

Mesoscale forecast model data now indicates another 6-10 inches of snow by Saturday morning for Glencoe, before the weather eases to Sunny Spells, convective snow showers and fairly light winds for Saturday. Uncertainty over a low pressure moving on Sunday regards depth and thus wind, so Saturday looking the pick of the weekend - but keep an eye on forecasts. Monday should be back to Sunny Spells snow showers and moderate winds.

Plateau Poma running for access, but it is possible to ski the Poma run though very thin after today's snow, Old Mugs Alley in good condition as an alternative.

Forecast still uncertain for later in the weekend and Saturday is looking good, light winds, bright or Sunny Spells and some snow showers. So get up Saturday if you can as only 3 more days (weather permitting) left for lift served riding at Glencoe.

^Will bash up to perfect machine packed powder in the morning. Early birds get the corduroy worm!

A few up with skis today at Glencoe, but the uphill part was hot work today! Despite the temperature being in the mid 20s°c around the West Highlands today the snow in the Main Basin and the Canyon was great - fast crunchy granular spring snow, a delight to ski and well worth the hike.

Main Basin, Spring Run still good on the upper mountain. The warm Easterly wind though has stripped an exposed section of Happy Valley above the narrows. Wall has a small break in it 3/4 of the way down, but apart from that the Wall, Canyon and Thrombosis remain skiable mid-mountain.

Flypaper area still has plenty snow, but a very dubious full width crack has a appeared and a risk t's a potential precursor of a significant wet snow avalanche or even full depth slide while the weather remains very warm and the warm and strong Easterly wind hits it full on.

^Tourers head through the Haggis Trap on the Main Basin.

Early weather indications looking promising for the summer slide on Saturday 18th at Glencoe, with high pressure looking to ridge in quite strongly for the weekend. This dates been picked as closest Saturday to the solstice which is on Monday 20th this year.

Meet at the base cafe at 9am for breakfast, then head up the Access Chair. The Cliffhanger Chair will operate for around 30 minutes from about 10am to get skiers and boarders closer to the remaining snow patches. Season Tickets valid, for others £10 for adults / £5 for juniors (standard Access Chair price). The Cafe will be open later than the usual 8.30pm on the Saturday.

After last year's extraordinarily cold and snowy late spring saw deep fresh snow 1st June 2015, it's looking more like a normal mid-summer slide this year, the Main Basin has broken into three distinct snowfields, but there's still scope for a decent number of turns
