From the article:
"The theft happened as Glasgow Ski Racing Club were heading to the slops of Bormio, Italy."

Sounds like the slops came to meet them.

Have read of several stories in the last couple of years of pro cycle teams losing whole truck loads of bikes in Italy/France. Sounds very organised and with CCTV monitoring on all the toll roads you would think it wouldn't be too hard to start linking things up. But maybe these were just opportunists in a van. Bad luck for the team, hope they gave it some in their borrowed gear.

Lock picking is usually the craft of locksmiths, government and pros trying not to leave any trace and damage, sounds like someone forgot tae lock the van n turn the alarm on?

First port of call would have been the rental firm they got the vans fae if it was me, that's if there was no damage and the van was locked. I cannae see they skills being wasted on randomly rattling vans in service stations somehow...
