whilst standing in the queue of about 250 people at gondala at Aonach Mor this weekend - I was wondering just how many uplifts Nevis Range gets from the world cup mountain biking and general mountain biking. Must be a serious number nowadays compared to skiers.

note for skiers: the dh world cup tickets with gondola cost £43.50/adult and must have been around 20,000 people attending which is around 1/5 of snowsports tickets, but in only 3 days.

I also suspect the mountain biking numbers are large (relativey). All I can say is good for them. I did read somewhere a while back (prob here on WH) that Nevis Range gets more tourist visitors on the Gondola than skiers

The total skier day figure for Nevis for the 2015/16 season was 26,760.

Andrew: here you are with 2014/15 numbers in brackets.
CairnGorm: 67,000 [76,588] Glenshee 59,126 [58,407] Lecht 25,156 [31,218] Nevis 26,760 [29,375] Glencoe 29,488 [35,046]

As is usual, Cairn Gorm had the longest season [17 weeks] compared to Glenshee which had just 10 weeks.

Kind regards

It just shows how important snowsports over Christmas & NY are to the areas. Surprised that the lecht are reporting less day in 15/16 even though they had a longer season.
