Glencoe this sunday for a tour test?
Date Posted: 13.15hrs on Fri 18 Nov 16
So i'm new to this touring game, having done it a couple of times in the alps.

I have managed to pick up some 2nd hand touring kit this year and will be hopefully be getting out on it more often. But as with all outdoor activities and new kit its good to try it out in a familiar environment just to make sure everything is ok.

Now i know that the chair is currently off but there is a load of snow up at Glencoe, so i was wondering how difficult would it be to walk up to the top of the access chair and...having only really visited in winter...is there a path.

Thinking walk up...do a bit of touring to get used to the kit, removing / fitting skins etc and then walk back down...daft idea?

No 1 thing to learn is how to find the best snow, fortunately now the webcams greatly help.
Yes, Glencoe looks good, also may be worth using the Nevis Gondola to save a hike.
Have a good trip.

Just been up to GMR to have a wee lift/hike & ski today. Only 2 lifties. Would love to see the risk assessment for that!
As a regular customer, and having paid for my season pass ages ago, I was going to be charged £10 a shot of the chair. Came home.

Gogsyboy,

As we only have one lift running today 2 staff would be fine, we in actual fact have 4 hill staff on duty today to provide extra cover and ensure customers have a great and safe experience.

Hi Andy, I see you've edited your response on facebook. Does that mean if I came up tomorrow I'd have to pay for uplift?

OK, just to tidy this up. Decision taken by head lifty: All season ticket holders have to pay for individual uplift until the season officially starts. Apologies to the lifty I spoke to this morning.
