French Alps - 10 days

Ski-touring (no lifts)
Glencoe - 21 days
Ben Lawyers - 1 day
Lowther Hills - 1 day
Ben Nevis - 1 day
France / Italy - 25 days

Total 61 days

How was yours?

- Half of one day skiing at Nevis before the (not forecast) wind shut the Gondola. 650m mile round trip. good job i quite like it.

- 6 days of brilliant sunshine and fresh snow in Courchevel.

both equally enjoyed for different reasons.

better luck next year.

probably the worse season in around 10 years. 1 day touring in late nov.
3 days lift served at Glencoe and 6 days in Italy.
Usually get at least 20+ days ...also wasted £60 on an advantage card for Glenshee - must be the first time since 1998 that I've not managed a day there.
Roll on next season!

Absolute rubbish, had far better in the snow drought during the 80's & 90's.

Les Arcs late January with well polished man-made snow lower down and rocks every where both on and offpiste, grass/straw sticking out of snow pack above Champagny.

4 days at CGM (usually 30-40 in Scotland, very expensive per day season ticket)
3 days ski touring.

Start the snow dance.

Andy, you did not waste £60 on Glenshee Advantage card. Glenshee will be using that money to invest and improve for the future. Think of it like that and you will get a warm fuzzy feeling.

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to go to any of Ski centres, I usually go to Glenshee, this is probably the worst season I have known for a long time, hopefully next season will start with a bang. does anyone know what is the status of the newly planned Glenshee chairlift.

6 days at Courchevel 1650; a session at Chill Factor in Manchester and nothing in Scotland. First season in years I've missed at least a weekend. Every time it looked promising, along came the thaw!

Just 5941 skier days at Glencoe this year, only around 20% of norm.

Unlike the Cairnwell Chair replacement with a triple which was approved in 2 months in late 2014, the replacement of the Cairnwell Tow with a quad chair is still a live planning issue 5 months on and also unlike the triple chair, this time there are statutory objections from SEPA and SNH.

A lovely simple chairlift. Looks like the strategy is to go for a slow line speed (2.3m/s) but a high carry capacity of 28 uphill chairs, say maximum of 112 people on the line. I'm guessing that will be perhaps 4 times the current line capacity of the T bar and twice its throughput of skiers (700ph v 1500 ph)

Only four posts in and we have thread drift towards speculation over lift machinery and the running of resorts!

2015/16 49 ski days - Dec to June
2016/17 61 ski days - Nov to May

So improvement this season by 12 days as a result of a lot of walking and quite benign weather in Scotland.

How was yours?

Got to say weekends did seem a bit emptier this winter just past!

7 days at Glencoe, compared to 17 in 2016. This year 2 in heavy rain which surprisingly weren't too bad, I think 3 or 4 of the days only lower slopes open. Only one day where I got down the Spring run. Some more abroad, even there snow levels down on previous years.

I had a season ticket so over the past few years I'm still quids in, no issues buying a season ticket from me: some you win, occasionally you may loose.

Looking at it another way, I usually make "a look at the snow" videos when the weather is average to excellent: Only 3 Videos on You Tube this season from me (I didn't get around to making the last day video (25th March for me) which was the day of the season) ... compared to 9 or 10 in 2016.
