My question, why does Nevis Range conduct their Gondola maintenance every year so close to winter. why not do it during the autumn so they can capitalise on potential early snowfalls.
Visitor numbers and money. They get plenty of gondola visitors during October with the school holidays and then into the start November, so they're still in summer mode at that point.
The annual gondola maintenance has to happen at some point and the end of Nov/start of Dec is the quietest time to do it.
Speaking to lift staff at the pre-season gathering earlier this month, they were undertaking some major work on the Gondola bull wheels this year, which was on top of the usual maintenance.
