Lovely spring conditions today - very few people, which probably helped the condition of the runs, but a shame for Glenshee to be so empty. They say they’re open tomorrow and then Thursday to Sunday but if the weather warms up even a little, I can’t see he runs surviving. It’s been a pretty good year.

I see Glenshee have called it a day for this season. But what a season! Thanks to all at Glenshee for some fabulous days out.

Yup, a fantastic season for Glenshee. Proof that full car parks and happy punters can occur at the same time. Can't fault the experience I've had this year up there.

Can't help thinking they might be missing a trick at the end of the season though. Punters that may have spent a lot of money over the peak season (but aren't in the market for season passes) need incentivised to come up for the last few last blasts. The justification of full price passes given full cover and lift operations is fair enough but if the people don't turn up is it the right strategy? The americans seem to get it right with the end-of-season vibe/music/special offers/water ski pools etc. With the decent weather forecast and a social media blitz to punt offers, I'm sure the Shee could have been jumping this weekend and not gone out with a fizzle.

Aye, The management at GS only see the smaller picture.
The problems with the guys touring prove that.
Bad seasons will come again and they must see further than the quick buck.

Bring it on girls.

Has the construction of the new chair has started (or are they discussing where to put it)?

There is quite a bit of snow higher up at Glenshee now. Picture taken yesterday is from the top of the Cairnwell looking towards Caenlochan and Glas Maol.

Road cams showing huge drifts in last 24hrs

Won’t be long if mid week stays cold enough

Be Nice to Skiers, they have it hard enough already

It does look like it copped the most snow. The panorama cam was looking good earlier on

Temps are going up at the moment if the cairnwell weather station is to be believed.

And it's gone, very sad indeed looking at the webcam! sad smiley

Does Glenshee use snowmaking? They used to have some on claybokie but I haven't seen them in use ever. The Glenshee website boast

Snowmaking: 20,000m

Where in hell did they get that number from....

It’s both fenced runs by the Claybokie Poma, links around the Cairnwell Cafe and the Plastic Slope and Dink Dink Pomas. Number sounds bigger than it is!

Water and being off the grid are major issues at Glenshee and adequate grid capacity lies a long way beyond the nearest mains reached house sadly!

Edit! worth adding it’s all old manual equipment apart from one fan gun. When there is settled weather rapidly changing inversions have caused issues - undermines the need for modern automated equipment that can run in more marginal temps!

1 was modern (and may only have been on a lease trial as it came from CML), the rest were early 90s manual fan guns.
