West resorts - accommodation?
Date Posted: 22.28hrs on Fri 6 Apr 18
Any suggestions for reasonably priced b&b or s/c for a collection of a few last-minute nights over the next couple of weeks for access to Nevis & Glencoe? Looking on Booking.com & the like and it's getting both scarce and silly prices, £85-100 per night quite easily, if not a lot more, anywhere within driving distance. Even Travelodge FW is that price, or fully booked. Just want a double bed, loo & bath/shower, kettle and TV, nothing fancy. Cheers.

Corran Bunkhouse is the nicest place I’ve stayed at. Twin bed ensuites. Small but perfect for skiing. Clean, big drying rooms, nice steam room, lovely new lounge, big kitchens if you want to cook but 2 pubs and 1 restaurant in walking/free ferry distance. £24pp. Family who run it are v friendly and helpful. Lots of books/information in the lounge too, could easily have a cheap night there chatting/playing cards.

West End is OK but won’t be much cheaper than £70 for a double

Thanks peeps. ( Hostels really not for us these days, private rooms and bathrooms and double beds and TV news are pretty essential - getting too old!) Ended up getting a hotel b&b for £75 for a double. A lot more than I can really afford for not-exactly luxury, but seems the cheapest going rate. Paid £30 for a similar place in FW back in Jan, £40 room only last week on a Glenshee trip... Guess it's tourist season on the West Coast now, very few vacancy signs.

Corran isn't really your normal hostel, it is worth a look.

Other places to try which might not be obvious are -
The Crianlarich hotel which isn't that far really to glencoe.

The coach party place in tyndrum which occasionally sells empty rooms on booking.com very cheaply. Its actually quite good as long as you dodge the entertainment.

For a few cheap nights, a log fire and usually friendly folk, try Glencoe Independent Hostel. £15-£13 a night depending on how long you stay with good kitchen facilities and heated drying room. About 20mins from Glencoe Mountain and 45mins from Nevis Range
