It is still trading at present, but obviously deeply worrying for suppliers and season pass holders who’ll now be at the mercy of a new company. CairnGorm Mountain (Scotland) Limited was incorporated 3 days ago with HIEs office as the registered office. Possible attempt at a pre pack admin though article above says discussion to sell it as a going concern has not been progressed.

Hopefully NAIL will swiftly depart the Highlands and Islands now and various local assets that should be in local or community hands will be placed with a more appropriate operator that keeps senior staff and roles in the Highlands in line with HIEs statutory objectives.

But what company owns the assets? Not 100% clear from other threads etc?

HIE must now admit the who lease idea was/is a disaster.

Community interest company is the only way forward or a totally private company like all the other ski areas.

WOW...

about time too....

& yes HIE own all 100 shares in the new company....looks like NAIL wanted too much for the share in the old company & the old company is worthless now due to the funicular repair costs etc...

The land is effectively owned by HIE under a different name.....the buildings/train set are owned by HIE....& none is part of the operating contract...you get to play with but not own...

the only thing that is owned by NAIL & CGML is small movable stuff.....maybe the piste bashers, ski hire stuff etc...

HIE have paid for the snow factories...
