Whitelees for white lines
Date Posted: 09.17hrs on Sun 3 Feb 19
Had a blast yesterday cross country skiing at Whitelees Windfarm above East Kilbride. Did a two hour loop from Ardochrig entrance - east side - up to Corse Hill. From about 305m to 376m via an undulating gently climbing track. Perfect weather. The spine road has compacted snow. They seem to have some plough and a tracked vehicle as well as service trucks. So a mix of untouched snow, tire tracks and cat tracks. You do have to switch around as some of the road stones do stick through a little. Early parts have foresters belts giving a lot of shade and a nice Nordic feel in the sun. Currently snowing again here on a Sunday morning.
Did I mention this is 25 mins from Glasgow?
Interestingly, at the summit there is a revolving camer on a tower. Make a good conditions cam! Pics on Twitter, having issues with attachments. [twitter.com]

Chatting to some cyclists, they said they sometimes XC ski Lamb Hill near Strathaven

We were out touring there as well yesterday! Incredible conditions- especially on the nearer spine roads where the weight of people had compacted down a good base. Hopefully conditions will continue / survive the warm front coming through
