Glencoe - Snow Conditions 20/21
Date Posted: 19.10hrs on Fri 25 Dec 20
Merry Christmas. Looks like a good point to start this thread because Boxing Day is going to be an absolute howler with Storm Bela - but on the mountains it will be snow, though fairly wet and heavy in nature on Boxing Day, with the freezing level dropping later in the day through into Sunday.

Storm Force or above SW winds will drive wet snow downslope on Meall a' Bhuiridh through boxing day, snow may stick a bit lower than the freezing level suggests and there should be some significant accumulations on the upper snowfields.

Currently no power at Glencoe, hence no webcams working up the hill.

Stable grid power back on at Glencoe after recurring brownouts, surges and outages over the past 48 hours. Mountain webcams have now come back online.

As beautiful as that is Alan, I am not sure if I preferred not seeing the great snow up there... it's pure torture this.

I've been poring over the maps to see if Glencoe is within 5 miles from the Stirling Council boundary - but unfortunately not.

A brief brighter interlude earlier showing up the drifting on the sustained East wind of recent days. Wind has turned back to ESE to SE, and that's starting to bring snow showers back into Glencoe.

First sunny day with the hill fully visible for a while. At the start of last week piste bashers had been up and down to the carpark, so the blue access run had been groomed. Another 18inches plus of snow has fallen to carpark level since then!

On the last image the light is beginning to highlight avalanche debris in the lower Canyon, can see a V shaped crown wall further up.
