Great pics of the Cairngorms. I am now able to log on as well. Here is a pic of G Choire on 13 July.

Well, looks like I was wrong on two counts! smiling smiley [www.glencoelive.com]

Would someone concur that as of 0930 this morning there are two patches left? A tiny tiny one on the Spring Run and a tiny one on the flypaper?

Think also there's a very small third one in the Main Basin as well, near the lift line, but it won't last long

Trip to Lochnagar on Saturday 26th July. - Surprised to find scraps of snow in a couple of places.

1. - Three thin/narrow strips between Raeburn's & Black Spout, at foot of gullies. Estimate just a few metres in length, might last to month-end but should be gone soon.

2. - Coire an Daimh Mhoile, 1km direct south from Cac Carn Mor summit cairn, at 1000m-1050m contour level. - Pic attached.

I was rather surprised to see this patch on Beinn Dearg, near Ullapool, last Wednesday.

South top of Ben a Bhuird still has four reasonable sized patches at the head of the Allt an t-Sneachda; largest about 70-80m across and 30m top to bottom at widest point.
Sorry no pics.

Cheers Paul,

Yep the university press office has been doing a good job, a lot more coverage than I was expecting smiling smiley.

I guess eveyone else will be wondering what we are on about.

We walked into Coire an Lochain yesterday were there are still a couple of snow patches that can be seen from the northern end of Strathspey. A very windy day with fierce gusts funneling down the coire....got blown over twice (and I'm no lightweight!) so we didn't venture up onto the tops.
There are also a few patches on Braeriach, that can be seen from Aviemore...they've shrunk considerably over the last fortnight in the high temperatures that we've had here.

Regards
Olderalan

Thanks Alan.

Yes, we had heard the Coire an Lochain patch is still hanging in there and was visible from the road, but no photographs this close.

Much obliged. smiling smiley
