Winter Olympics
Date Posted: 13.33hrs on Thu 18 Feb 10
I've been thinking over the last week about the winter olympics.

Why as a country do we suck at them?

Really a boardercross circuit is no different to a slightly icy day at Glencoe or Glenshee.

Likewise our alpine skiers should be experts on the boiler plate downhill tracks with conditions like a typical day in Scotland with "some icy patches".

Our Nordic Expert Downhillers (NEDs) should be able to shoot a target from 100M with ease if they've grown up in any of our major cities/drug holes. And there abilitiy to run away from the polis in icy conditions is legendary.

We really should do better!

Absolutely, I was watching the boardercross, and despite being pretty crap on a board, I reckoned I could give them a run for their money.

Maybe queuing should be an Oylimpic event, after recent goings on at CG I reckon we'd have some people up for a gold in that.

Why no telemarking events in the olympics?

Me and the kids enjoyed watching the mens "skiing cross" events yesterday.

Was wondering how my kids could get into this without going down the "ski racing" route?

Anyone know if any Scottish Ski clubs specialise in this event?
