and the winner is.........a Nissan X-TRail! Great spec, good price, good residuals and economic. I'll let you know how it goes.
But if I win the lottery this week, it will be a Disco!

not a bad choice - never owned one but had one on hire for about 6 weeks (work) drove it on a good cross section of roads and tracks.

The original Discos were fantastic. Robust and reliable. Had three in total, changing every two years. Then came all the electronics and suspension control. So unreliable joined the AA. Had two of them both had to be recovered due to unfixable roadside electronic faults, even by LR roadside technicians. Abandoned Discos and now have a six year old X-Trail which has been totally reliable and a one year old Sportage bought on the strength of the 7 year warranty.

Would never consider another Disco even if I had loads of money. I have a couple of friends with them and they are always having problems with them.
