Any 4x4 owners doing any overland travel this summer?
Over the last year I have been modifying a 11yr old Toyota Landcruiser for a trip down to the Spanish Pyrenees, followed by upto 600km of offroad trails through and over the mountains. Driving upto mountain passes 2500m in altitude, through ski resorts and remote valleys with ford crossings. Hope to also do some mountain biking en-route and in Andorra.
Lots of modifications to the landcruiser:
All-terrain tyres, front 9000lbs winch + hand-winch, 4x 10,000 recovery points, waffleboards, land-anchor, safari snorkel, rocksliders and tree-fenders (sill and side impact protection), underbody sump and gearbox & transfer protection skid-plates, 40mm lifted Heavy-duty suspension, split charge system and auxillary battery, boot-storage drawer & shelving system and lighting, onboard power 240v 500w inverter, extra 12v sockets, USB charging point, large 12v aircompressor, 50l portable fridge/freezer on slide, side awning for shade and shelter when camping. 2x20l drinking water storage bladders.
