Amazing achievements for British female polar skiers ... this month
Date Posted: 13.26hrs on Wed 25 Jan 12
This has been an astonishing month for female British skiers on endurance polar expeditions. Three athletes have achieved gruelling long-distance targets, dragging their own sleds across the ice and snow.
----------
Bryony Balen (21, from Derbyshire): youngest person to ski the full distance to the South Pole (705 miles, 56 days).
----------
Felicity Aston (34, from Kent): first person to ski solo across Antarctica without kites/machines (1084 miles, 59 days).
----------
Helen Skelton (28, from Cumbria): set a world record for kite-assisted skiing 100km across Antarctica (7hrs28mins) on a trek - using various equipment including a bike - to the South Pole (500 miles, 18 days)

Google their names for further info! You won't find much of it in the British 'ski media'.
