If everyone does it, the site will not be here, simple as that. Which is part of the reason we are planning a new advertising format that doesn't confirm to any IAB standard and wont appear as an advert to blockers.

As for advertising content, the majority of the adverts are served by Google Adsense - which has fairly strict criteria for the content of the adverts, but means we have very little control over content which is driven by several criteria:

•Your location
•Recent browsing and search history
•Site content and keywords.

The later is a problem because of the CairnGorm pages on this site containing webcam, cams and lady frequently - this can at least contribute to dating adverts appearing.

A couple of people have told me that if I don't remove adverts from the site they will stop using it, the bottom line is that's too bad. If adsense was removed, the site would shutdown at the end of the current hosting month.

If you look at the top right hand corner of the adverts there should be a small, very small, blue triangle. Click, I think left click, on this and a menu should come up and you can change the adverts. it will ask you why and you can tick the box saying inappropriate, offensive, not relevant. Google ads will then change the type of banners you see and Alan will still be able to get the revenue.

Mrs Windy was asking why the dating sites too and thought I was on the lookout for Mrs Rev 2.0 eye popping smiley

Graeme

PS Adblock is not as innocuous as you might think. If you read the small print it is monitoring your internet traffic and reporting back your stats. It is big brother in another guise.

Been trying to do as suggested but it asks me to highlight offending ads which just opens up the offending websites. I really hate this shite polluting the otherwise fabulous Winterhighland site. Nikki

Funny, I dont get any of that stuff, just the crystal, some investment rubbish, or at the moment, phillips, ad on the top banner, as soon as you scroll down there's not an ad to be seen.
