The tour companies always seem to try and push a day there when you go to banff/lake louise.

Good powder reputation is all I know (other than how it got its name).

Hey there, KH is a fantastic place, esp on powder days...Have been there over 3 years both before & after the Stairway to Heaven quad went in. Like many Canadian places, there are comparitively few lifts per runs, but there's also the single "It's a Ten" green 10km run which enables a safe way down more-or-less wherever you are on the hill. Gimme an idea of what ye enjoy & I'll send some recommendations your way.

Golden itself is (or maybe was) a fairly fine wee place, not as commercial as Banff & points east. Basing yourself there also gives options to Panorama to the South which I can also recommend together with the Lake Louse/Sunshine/Norquay options. All these other places will take a 2 hour drive, but the roads are v impressive , safe & well maintained. Going to Panorama also gives you the option of Radium Hot springs en route back...can't emphasise how good that is after a good day on the hill.

Let us know when you're planning to go & can offer some specifics if ye want,

am jealous as hell, Rob.
