The current border needn't be fixed for ever. In the past it has fluctuated between Preston and Glasgow.

We could move all the nice bits of England back into Scotland again ie. Cumbria, Northumberland, Durham, even North Yorkshire. That would mean all the lift served real skiing in one country !

That would also bring some more quite respectable mountain biking into Scotland. Provided you don't mind having stop to open lots of gates..

Would it not create a bit of friction though if parts of Yorkshire were in Scotland and Lancashire was left behind in England? Or is that a good thing?

The nice bits of Lancashire would be allowed in.

Sounds like a good idea to me! After all, historically Northumberland was part of Scotland for much longer than it has been English.
