the Rugby World Cup thread !
Date Posted: 12.41hrs on Fri 12 Oct 07
I am a rugby fan and I don't want to be off thread so this is a thread to talk about rugby. I was very disapointed last week when Scotland was beaten by Argentina. But tomorrow I will support les Bleus in this great match against England. Allez les Bleus.

Here is a video about a Scotland - New Zealand match, no rules and great scotch.

And you which team will you be supporting in the semi-final ?

Allez les Bleus!

Scotland were nearly as bad against Argentina as France were but France hopefully have found a game!

Lionel,

vraiment, ce n'est jamais la perfide Albion!

Allez les Bleus! Bonne courage. L'ennemi hereditaire est la meme chose pour les Ecossais.

I'm going to be in France next weekend for a freestyle comp. I was looking forward to an evening in the pub watching a France vs South Africa final on Saturday night.

I think I may have to change my plans for the evening sad smiley

It wouldn't bother me if England had got there on merit, but they've just not done anything special during this tournament. It's just the usual give the ball to Johnny routine.. and even he has been cr*p for most of it.

Lets just hope its the Springboks that win the other semi-final... I couldn't face an England vs Argentina final. Apart from all the unnecessary "who won the Falklands war?" comments we'd get all week, the media will have all the victory parades and programs planned and recorded before the match.

Stevie,

Are those sour grapes I smell? ;o)

Lets be fair, you do not get to any world cup final without being there on merit.

It is no suprise the old Jonni excuse is coming out again. Last time I checked it was a 15 man game ;o) Anyway if we can get to the final with a crap kicker, how come you cant with the kicker with the best stats in the comp ;op

An argie final would be great. We kicked their arses 15000 miles away from home. I am sure we can do the same just across the channel.

England have decided, after a disastrous start, to play to their strengths - claustrophobic, tight, pressure rugby. They are masters at it, and when they play tight rugby they are very difficult to beat. After beating two quality teams - Australia and France they deserve to be in the world cup final on merit.

How many Scots complained about the football Scotland played to win against France? None. Zero. How many Scots will complain if we put 11 men behind the ball against Italy and go through to the finals with a negative 0-0 draw? None. Zero.

Tastes like sour grapes to me...

This was sent to me by a S African friend of mine!!

>> "So bek moet jêm kry! - A little girl was sitting in her classroom in England when her teacher walked in and started talking about how proud she is to be English and how wonderful it is to be an England supporter. The teacher then asked everyone who supported England to put up their hand. Every hand in the class besides one went up. This surprised the teacher and so she asked the little girl why her hand wasn't up.
"Well," said the little girl, "because I dont support England."
Even more surprised, the teacher asked her who she supported. "I support the Springboks", she replied. Now a bit irritated, the teacher asked the little girl why she supported the Springboks. "My mom supports the Springboks, and my dad supports the Springboks, so I support the Springboks." The teacher looked at the little girl and with a smirk asked: "Well, if your mom was an idiot and your dad was an idiot, what would you be?"
The little girl looked up at her teacher, smiled and replied:
"An England supporter!" >>

Ho Hum! smiling smiley ...We'll see. England have managed to overcome their underdog status by beating 'superior' opposition for the last 2 weeks. winking smiley
