Ohhhh, I love Ireland smiling smiley

I love the warmth and the feeling that time is slower there, the quiet secluded beaches on the north west coast. Taking Teddy(R.I.P dog) out tae move sheep/cattle about and roll about laughing when the cattle get pisssed of and started tae chase him aboot. Sitting in the kitchen/living room/centre of fun keeping the arger topped up with peat(mmmmm the smells) winding up some of my family about religion, having tae remind some about the auld ancient fort thats on their land and making them THINK, i could go on and on aboot Ireland as its like Scotland, MAGIC winking smiley

it must be some kind of weird emigrant thing but but I much prefer Ireland to go back to than living there. There's a gang of us who were friends from school that are scattered around the world and see each other on trips home etc. which is great.

I do get the same at-home feeling living over here though

Spending time with my family and friends. Enjoying the banter you get with your mates having a few beers.

Scoring at 5-a-side (always a nightmare when you never get a goal and have to wait until your next match!)

Aye Barry I know hat ya mean. And not tae leave the English oot I get the same feeling in parts England, more so the south west coast.. I think it maybe the "celtic culture/history/magic" thats attracts my subconscious tae these places, maybe..

After the obvious answer of a bluesky powder day at Glencoe followed by several pints in the Clachaig, my second-most happy-making activity goes to driving steam trains at Brechin! Normally a summer activity, but more atmospheric in the winter. Man & machine working together, with simple engineering you can understand.

Being on the slopes early at the weekend - knowing that the very early start, the drive up and the rushing about the night before was all worth it....knowing that there are lots of folk still in their pits, while you are "up the hill" with a whole day's adventure ahead of you....and it is still only 8.30-9am in the morning.

Other happy benefits:

1. There's a bacon roll waiting for you at 10.30am
2. There's a nice cake waiting for you around 3pm
3. The priviledge of being able to do this most weekends in the wintertime in Scotland, while others can only dream of it or squash a similar experience into 1 weeks ski holiday per year

Err no....therefore, I'll just blame you!

"HTH needs some one to go skiing with...he's getting a bit old you know...and needs someone to keep an eye on him" grinning smiley

Also, you know that most trips out, involves me with some "childcare" responsibilities of some sort - now that really makes me happy!

I know what you mean as ive moved to England from Ireland and noticed how everythings moves quicker here and at home people would go out of their way to help but over here people are always suspicous and always think the worst of you - just the impression i get
