Rossignol Free Venture Approach skis
Date Posted: 21.17hrs on Mon 7 Jan 19
We have 2 pairs of these fun skis- now marketed by STC Swiss and renamed Snow Venture.See STC-Swiss.ch.Below is the info from the website. Pair 1 of ours is as bought complete with bag and skins. Pair 2 has Silvretta touring bindings attached though original bindings also included and can be put back on if required. Also comes with skins.Pair 1 £100. Pair 2 £120

“SnowVenture is a great product for the beginner or less ambitious ski tourer. They are lighter, cheaper and very easy to use when the snow isn't quite what you'd wish for. At 2800g/pair they won't weigh you down in your rucksack. Their light weight has taken them far: they have been previously used at the North and South Pole.

They are a real alternative to snowshoes because they make travelling so easy. The climb is faster and less strenuous, you come back downhill properly and have great fun.

Snowboarders rate the easier climb and use SnowVenture for touring. Soft boots can also be used with an add on.

And finally: SnowVenture makes a great impression on the piste. They are comparable to other fun carving skis of similar length, or even somewhat better.

The central part is an adjustable binding. Mounted on a 99cm long wide ski with a strong side cut it enables easier movement in the forward position like a snow shoe. To move off the binding is pushed backwards using the handle where it automatically locks in place. This position and the short ski allows even modest skiers to enjoy powder skiing themselves. Skins and crampons are required for climbing. A safety binding is not required for this length of ski so the binding can be adjusted to fit any shoe size in seconds.

The binding fits touring shoes, snowboard hard boots, ski boots, climbing iron proofed hiking shoes. With an add on they can also be used with soft boots, alpine boots, winter boots etc.

Please note: Skiing with alpine boots or snowboard shoes is very difficult because these shoes don't have much purchase. The less purchase a shoe has the weaker the edge grip. We recommend ski boots or touring shoes for the descent.”
