1960s Scottish Ski Film - On BBC iplayer this week
Date Posted: 12.30hrs on Tue 5 Mar 13
Hi all.

On BBC4 last night there was the second episode of a series called "Britain on Film", showing Rank Organisation film footage from the 50s and 60s. It was filmed in top quality colour and has never been seen on TV before - originally it was shown at the cinema. There were a few minutes on skiing in Scotland with plenty of shots of the Cairngorms under snow, the Cairngorm ski area, what could be Aviemore or Kingussie and some lessons on slopes obviously nowhere near any uplift. I would be interested to hear if someone can identify the hotel and village on there. It is on iplayer all this week.

Enjoy

Just done some research; I think the hotel was the Struan House in Carrbridge; now closed. The Herald has just published an obituary of Eileen Fuchs who set it up with her husband as the first ski hotel in Scotland.
